FDL NAMI is a
local chapter, self-help, support and advocacy organization of family
and friends of the mentally ill. FDL NAMI is an affiliate with the NAMI
Georgia and NAMI National organization. Our mission is to help consumers
and families affected by severe mental illness. Of critical
importance right now is fighting social stigma of mental illness,
raising awareness of local available resources concerning housing and
transportation needs, and working one-to-one with families caught in the

Meetings run from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM and all are welcome. Special programs will be posted as they occur. You are not alone on this journey. Family to Family Education Program is a series of classes sponsored by NAMI Georgia and offered at neihboring local chapter to equip friends and family with the tools needed to cope with the stresses of helping family members with severe mental illnesses. Attendees are educated as to the biological and social nature of mental illness, medication options, self-care tips and coping strategies. The classes are conducted weekly for a period of twelve weeks and are held in Forsyth County. Average class size is ten to twenty. Together we can find a solution to the serious public health problem that effects one in five Georgia families. The National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI, is the nation's leading advocate for millions of Americans suffering from mental illness. The state organization, NAMI, Georgia, provides support, education, advocacy and research programs for people across Georgia with mental illness. Participating in the walk is easy and fun.
